Short project-description

Heande (The Health, The Environment and Everything) is a Mediawiki-based project hosted by National Public Health Institute of Finland. We are developing a collaborative website that improves risk assessment and decision-making especially in human health and environmental related issues. Website serves as a tool for Open Risk Assessment method which we are also developing. We aim to

  • give public audience a chance to discuss about and contribute to environmental health risk assessments and decision making
  • provide information to public audience
  • collect information from public audience

Risk assessments and decision-making consists of several structured variables in Heande environment. Each variable describes some specific part of some real-world situation. Variables are open for public audiences and authorities to dispute on. This is done by means of formal argumentation. Dispute outcomes may also change contents of variable’s attributes. Risk assessments are handled as cases which consists dozens of variables. Heande can contain full cases or only certain parts of cases which are composed of variables. Variables are used in models which are causal network descriptions built with Analytica software. Models are available from Heande for everyone interested.
