Because of the need for surgical diagnosis, the prevalence of endometriosis in the general population is unknown. Estimates from asymptomatic fertile subpopulations undergoing tubal ligation have varied greatly from 0.7 – 43% around a mean of 4% (Eskanazi and Warner, 1997). However, up to 90% of those women were diagnosed with minimal or mild endometriosis.	Endometriosis	Surgical diagnosis
