GAINS is a scientific tool that identifies cost-effective emission control strategies to protect the atmosphere. IIASA's GAINS model explores cost-effective emission control strategies to reduce greenhouse gases and/or improve local and regional air quality. By selecting a smart mix of measures, countries can reduce air pollution control costs as well as cut greenhouse gas emissions. This portal provides access to the on-line implementations of the GAINS model for Annex 1 countries of the UNFCCC Conventionl, to more detailed implementations for Europe, China and India, and to supporting documentation material.
