Scope

The variable describes the relationship between cardiopulomnary mortality and personal exposure to PM2.5. The personal exposure is the time-weighted average concentration of individuals given knowledge on activity patterns and concentration in diffferent microenvironments D↷

Definition

Data

  • Concentration-response to PM2.5
  • Studies that relate personal exposures to cardiopulmonary mortality
  • Studies that relate personal exposures to intermediate health markers and studies on relationship between intermediary health impacts and cardiopulmonay mortality.
  • Studies relating personal exposure to ambient concentrations and/or simulations of personal exposures given activity patterns and ambient concentrations

Causality

no parent variables

Unit

m3/ug

Formula

  • Transform ambient concentration to a personal exposure measure in the Pope and Dockery studies, and derive exposure-response function (which becomes our prior)
  • Simulate exposure-response function from combination of exposure-intermediary health and intermiediary health - cardiopulmonary mortality studies (gives us additional information on exposure -response )
  • Update with Bayesian rule concentration-response function with above function and with additional knowledge from other existing studies on personal exposure - cardiopulmonary mortality if/when such studies exist
