Scope

Total cancer risk in adults in Beneris describes the relationship between exposure to dioxins (PCDD/Fs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) due to fish intake and the remaining lifetime cancer risk in adult Beneris population.

Definition

Total cancer risk in adults in Beneris estimates the remaining lifetime risk of developing any type of cancer and is represented as a function of parent variables. It applies to two age groups of the Beneris population, i.e adults aged 18-55yr and 55yr+ (gender combined).

Causality

List of parent variables:

Data

Baseline cancer risk represents the remaining lifetime risk of cancer incidence in Finland in 2006. It is estimated based on Lifetime cancer risk in Finland and it equals to 0.45 and 0.34 in age groups 18-55yr and 55yr+, respectively.

Unit

probability (unitless)

Formula

General formula (omitting unit conversion):
Remaining_Lifetime_Cancer_Risk = Baseline_Remaining_Lifetime_Cancer_Risk+ERF_of_dioxin*(Dioxin_Intake_Fish-Average_Dioxin_Intake_Fish) +ERF_of_PCBs*(PCB_Intake_Fish-Average_PCB_Intake_Fish)
