Name: The mortality due to PM 2.5 from buses

Scope: Mortality effects due to PM 2.5 from buses in Helsinki Metropolitan Area

Definition:

  • Data:
    • mortality due to cardiopulmonary, lung cancer and other causes,
    • exposure to road traffic PM 2.5,
    • the fraction of bus exposure of total road traffic exposure
  • Causality:
    • effect of bus type on PM 2.5 emissions and exposure,
    • relationship between the exposure of PM 2.5 and mortality effects
  • Unit: estimated deaths per year associated with primary PM 2.5
  • Formula: deltaM = M(eexp(bdeltaE)-1)
    • b = dose-response coefficient
    • deltaE = change in exposure
    • M = background mortality

Results: The mortality due to primary fine particles from buses ranged from 3 to 18 casese per year in the different bus strategies.
