Question

What is a good structure for Opasnet such that it fulfils the following criteria?

  • It enables the full application of the open assessment method.
  • It is operationalised as a clear set of websites and databases that can be accessed through the Internet.
  • Open web pages and project web pages (i.e., pages not [yet] openly available in the Internet) are separated in an intuitive and technically feasible way.
  • The management of proprietary material is handled in a way that maximises the usability of the material without compromising the rights of the material owner.

Answer

Technical details of Opasnet are also described here (password-protected).

Opasnet Base

Opasnet Base is a MySQL database for storing variable results in a systematic way for easy access and further use.

Opasnet File

Opasnet File is a File management system for storing data and other files for easy access and further use. It is operationalised as an M-files system.

Opasnet Wiki

Opasnet wiki is a collaborative workspace for Open Assessors' Network and a physical storage for descriptions about open assessments, variables, and methods. There are several wikis that work together. You can make links from one wiki to another by using the reference in the following way: [[:en:Main Page|This links to the English Wikipedia Main Page]], [[:op_en:Main Page|This links to the English Opasnet Main Page]].

Rationale

Data

The connections between different parts should be as seamless as possible. Tools that calculate variable results should be connected to the Base with Opasnet base connection.ANA or similar module. Other connections should exist as well (e.g. Analytica Definitions could be organised as formulae, and the variables that are mentioned in the Definition could be automatically linked as dependencies in the Base. These steps could slowly progress to a coherent and consistent system, where Analytica models would no longer be separate files but would be integral parts of the Opasnet system.
