Baltic herring is an important fish in Finland and Sweden for food and feed. However, it also contains persistent organic pollutants such as dioxins and PCBs. THL performed a risk-benefit analysis of Baltic herring as food in Finland in 2015. The report was written in Finnish, but the assessment model is in most part in English.
